Both acknowledge that the relationship may have been doomed by its circumstances. But where “Getaway Car” treats that inevitability almost mischievously, “Pink Clouding” looks back at the person on the other side of it with regret. The narrator isn’t asking why the relationship failed. She’s asking whether she hurt someone who didn’t deserve it.
That doesn’t prove the song is about Hiddleston. Other fans have floated different former partners, including Taylor Lautner, Harry Styles, and Joe Alwyn, and Swift herself has not publicly identified the song’s subject.
